Uganda Muslim leaders fired Sheikh Huzaima Magumba from his job as District Kadhi for Bugweri. Mufti Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje signed a letter ending Magumba's employment on May 26. Community members complained about fake school papers that Magumba used to qualify for his position. Officials investigated and found his Thanawi certificate was not real. The firing happened because Magumba broke important rules about leader qualifications.
Magumba must leave his office right away and give back all equipment that belongs to the Muslim council. The fake documents violated Article 19 of the organization's constitution about what District Kadhis need for their jobs. Mubajje said the decision protects the honesty of Muslim leadership across the country. Leaders want to keep the trust of Muslim communities throughout Uganda. The council has not picked anyone to replace Magumba at this time.
