A family vlog from television personalities Dipika Kakkar and Shoaib Ibrahim delighted viewers when their son Ruhaan unexpectedly identified his mother's famous television program. The 2-year-old responded to the word sasural by naming Sasural Simar Ka, the series that established Kakkar as a prominent figure in Indian households. Ruhaan credited his grandmother with teaching him about the show. He correctly identified Mataji as a character from the series.
Kakkar portrayed Simar from April 2014 through 2017 on the program. She met Ibrahim on set, and the couple married in February 2018 in Maudaha, Uttar Pradesh. They welcomed Ruhaan in June 2023. Kakkar recently disclosed her battle with liver cancer and continues chemotherapy treatment at home with family support.
