Silver Strikers Move to Fifth with 3-1 Victory Over Karonga United

Silver Strikers defeated Karonga United 3-1 at Silver Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The victory pushed Silver from eighth place to fifth in the TNM Super League table. Both teams earned 15 points from eight games, but Silver moved ahead on goal difference. Karonga fell from fifth to sixth position after the loss. The Central Bankers controlled most of the match at their home stadium.

Chinsisi Maonga scored the opening goal for Silver in the 37th minute. Emmanuel Allan provided the assist for Maonga's calm finish. Patrick Phiri equalized for Karonga with a penalty kick six minutes into the second half. A handball call inside Silver's penalty area led to the spot kick. The score remained tied at 1-1 for ten minutes.

Chimwemwe Idana restored Silver's lead with a powerful shot from 30 meters in the 61st minute. Festus Duwe assisted on the spectacular strike that beat the Karonga goalkeeper. Duwe scored himself two minutes later from close range after receiving a cross from Macdonald Lameck. The 3-1 scoreline held until the final whistle despite several substitutions from both teams. Silver's home record against Karonga remained strong with this latest victory.

Civil Service United earned a 2-0 win over Creck Sporting Club at Civo Stadium. Dastain Banda scored both goals for Civil Service in their comfortable victory. The result moved Civil Service to 13th place with nine points from nine matches. Creck dropped to 11th position with 11 points from ten games. Chitipa United crushed Songwe Border United 4-0 at Karonga Stadium to climb to ninth place.
