Singapore envoy, Bashir Uddin, plots new trade push for Dhaka

Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin met Monday with Singapore's non-resident High Commissioner Derek Loh at his Secretariat office. The officials explored ways to strengthen economic partnerships and expand collaborative efforts between both nations. Bashir Uddin praised Singapore's advanced technology leadership and service delivery achievements across global markets. He expressed Bangladesh's interest in learning from Singapore's proven methods for business development and operational efficiency.

High Commissioner Loh confirmed Singapore's commitment to supporting Bangladesh's trade capacity development initiatives. Singapore plans to assist with upgrading technological infrastructure within service institutions while building professional expertise among sector workers. The discussion emphasized mutual benefits from enhanced economic cooperation and knowledge sharing between the countries.

Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman attended the session alongside Singapore High Commission Chargé d'Affaires Mitchell Lee and Ministry of Commerce Joint Secretary Shibir Bichitra Barua. Both sides agreed that expanded partnerships would create valuable opportunities for economic growth and technological advancement through sustained collaboration efforts.
