Sirisena says too soon to judge the government, corruption continues despite action

Former President Maithripala Sirisena believes people should wait before judging the current government. He told reporters that citizens need to give officials at least one or two years before making any decisions. Sirisena compared the situation to a newborn baby that cannot be evaluated immediately after birth. The former leader stressed that proper assessment requires more time to pass. He emphasized patience when evaluating new political leadership.

Reporters asked Sirisena about government efforts to combat fraud and corruption cases. The former president acknowledged that officials have taken some action against wrongdoing. However, he pointed out that dishonest practices continue to happen across the country. Sirisena noted that corrupt activities persist despite government attempts to stop them. His comments suggest that fighting corruption remains an ongoing challenge for authorities.
