Sisa Nkomo Dives Into Shades of Blue

Young poet Nomqhele Sisa Nkomo plans to share her heartfelt words at Alliance Française in Bulawayo on April 25. At just twenty years old, she brings her talents to a show called Shades of Blue. Her poems discuss mental health problems like depression, anxiety, and learning to accept yourself. She hopes many people will come hear her speak about these important topics.

Sisa first wrote poems when she turned fourteen as a way to express feelings she kept inside. Poetry became her safe place, where she could make sense of tough emotions and the world around her. As years passed, she practiced her skills at poetry contests and shows across the area. Her hard work paid off when judges named her Outstanding Poet at the PRACA event, a big honor for someone her age.

The award made Sisa feel amazing because it showed her words mattered to other people. She sees this success as both a gift and a duty. It pushes her to keep writing honest poems that touch hearts and minds. Her upcoming show will take listeners through ups and downs as she talks about growing up with lots of ideas in her head. She plans to share both the happy and sad parts of life, helping others see they face similar struggles.

Sisa admits she still feels nervous before every show despite years of practice. Yet, she loves the rush of speaking her truth in front of an audience. The challenge keeps her excited about poetry and performing. She believes that sharing personal stories creates real connections between herself and the people listening. Her goal remains simple—to help others feel less alone through the power of spoken words about life's hardest moments.
