Six Injured in School Shooting in Sweden.
A shooting occurred at a school campus in central Sweden on Tuesday. At least six people were hurt, according to Orebro regional authorities.
Five of the six injured suffered gunshot wounds. Four underwent surgery. The other two had minor injuries. Police believe one of the hospitalized individuals is the shooter.
The attack happened at an adult school that shares a campus with children's schools. Students and staff sheltered in locked buildings until evacuations began.
"This is a very painful day," said Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
Teacher Maria Pegado described the chaos. After lunch, she opened her classroom door and yelled for everyone to flee. "I took all my 15 students out into the hallway, and we started running," she told Reuters. As she escaped, Pegado saw people dragging out the injured.
Orebro University Hospital is offering more treatment capacity if needed. Police first alerted the public at 12:20 GMT, and the victim tally rose as the incident unfolded.
A still image from earlier showed frightened students hiding under desks. The caption read, "We don't know anything. We have sat here for an hour. "
The motive remains unknown as authorities investigate this tragic incident that shook the community.
