Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 melts benchmarks, Galaxy S25 Ultra weeps

Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile processor featuring Oryon Gen 3 architecture. The chip delivers 20 percent faster single-core performance and 17 percent improved multicore speeds compared to previous models. Benchmark results show Geekbench 6 scores reaching 3,800 for single-core and 12,400 for multicore tasks. The processor integrates enhanced AI capabilities through its upgraded Hexagon NPU.

The company also introduced Snapdragon X2 Elite processors targeting premium laptops and mobile workstations. These chips feature an 80 TOPS NPU that enables advanced artificial intelligence applications. Both processor families emphasize energy efficiency while providing substantial performance gains over earlier generations. Devices using these new processors will reach markets during the first half of 2026.
