Her mom, aunt, and grandmother came from Muslim families, so she rolled with that faith when living under their roofs, then switched to Christianity after moving somewhere else.
The singer said her connection to God matters way more than slapping a religious label on herself. She pushed back against people getting hostile over faith differences and pointed out that hanging around Muslims or traditionalists does not mean she adopted their beliefs.
