Some AI music artifacts need regeneration

AI music artifacts fall into two camps. Surface damage can often be reduced, while broken musical information usually has to be regenerated or replaced.

Clicks, crackles, hiss, mild clipping, low-mid mud, harsh fizz, weak transients, and unstable stereo width are repair jobs. A mangled lyric, wrong note, melted instrument, tempo jump, or long metallic warble is a source problem, and mastering cannot invent the missing performance.

Mastering can rescue damaged AI audio​

Removing clicks from AI music works best when the defect is brief and isolated. De-clicking or short waveform repair can interpolate across tiny gaps, while de-clipping may rebuild flattened peaks when enough surrounding signal remains.

Broadband hiss, brittle top-end noise and mild metallic texture need restrained processing. Dynamic EQ, spectral attenuation and gentle noise reduction can lower the distraction, but aggressive cleanup can leave dull highs, watery tails or pumping behind.

Weak AI drum transients, collapsed dynamics and stereo phase problems sit closer to mixing than restoration. Transient shaping, careful expansion and mid-side control may improve punch and mono stability, provided the underlying kick, snare and bass information still exists.

Broken performances demand replacement​

Robotic vocals are not one defect. Sibilant harshness may respond to de-essing, but garbled consonants, drifting formants, invented syllables and unstable pitch usually require a fresh vocal section rather than another mastering pass.

The same rule applies to instruments. A short click inside a guitar phrase is repairable, while a guitar that morphs into another instrument, loses its attack, or wanders off rhythm has damaged musical content. A painstaking Suno artifact cleanup can soften noise, clicks, and brittle edges, but it cannot recover a phrase the generator never rendered coherently.

Suno currently lets you replace a selected section, audition alternate versions, and work with extracted stems in Studio. Those options make regeneration more precise than rebuilding the entire song, especially when only one vocal line, drum fill, or instrumental passage has failed.

Repair order protects the strongest take​

Start by marking every audible defect before touching the master bus. Fix isolated clicks and clipping first, check vocals and timing next, then address tonal harshness, dynamics and stereo width.

If the same warble or smear runs through a whole stem, stop stacking processors. Severely corrupted AI performances usually survive better when you replace the damaged passage, preserve the clean sections, and master only after the musical information is stable.
