Son of music exec Eugene Big U Henley killed in LA shooting

Jabari Henley, known as Baby Uiie and the 34-year-old son of music industry figure Eugene Henley, died from gunfire on Friday evening in South Los Angeles. Officers arrived near 69th Street and Figueroa Street shortly past 11 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired. Emergency personnel discovered a Black male victim with bullet injuries who was declared deceased at the location. Investigators say Henley had walked toward a stationary vehicle positioned near a tobacco retailer when the shooting occurred. The suspect escaped and remains unidentified, with authorities declining to specify whether gang activity played a role.

Luce Cannon, a music consultant and rapper currently detained with Eugene Henley at the Metropolitan Detention Center, said he informed the elder Henley about his son's death. Cannon expressed grief over the tragedy and suggested the younger Henley may have recognized his attacker. Eugene Henley, recognized for managing performers such as Kurupt and the deceased Nipsey Hussle, faces federal accusations related to racketeering, fraud, and extortion. The victim leaves behind his brother Daiyan Henley, who plays linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers, along with another brother and a sister.
