Sony dumps its ownership of EVO tournament on NODWIN Gaming

NODWIN Gaming acquired the ownership stake that Sony Interactive Entertainment previously held in the fighting tournament EVO. Nazara Technologies controls NODWIN Gaming, which receives backing from Sony Group Corporation. The transaction establishes NODWIN Gaming as co-owner alongside RTS while Sony Interactive Entertainment transitions to a sponsorship role through 2028. Evolution Championship Series announced this ownership change through a business update on their official website. The tournament organizers described this transition as significant progress for the event.

Sony Interactive Entertainment purchased EVO with RTS in 2021 to expand the fighting game community globally. Phil Rosenberg from Sony Interactive Entertainment emphasized the company's commitment to supporting tournament growth despite the ownership change. NODWIN Gaming co-founder Akshat Rathee pledged to maintain the tournament's authenticity and fighting game community focus. Qiddiya joined as a global partner and invested in RTS during this transition. Sony Interactive Entertainment plans to continue showcasing PlayStation products like the FlexStrike fight stick and upcoming games at future tournaments.
