Sony says AI tools will support game dev, not replace creatives

Sony has deployed artificial intelligence technology across multiple game development projects through its Enterprise LLM platform. The company integrated voice recognition software for automated subtitle generation in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and conducted experimental testing with the Horizon franchise character Aloy. More than 50,000 employees across 210 internal teams have adopted these AI tools since 2023 for chat assistance and writing support while maintaining strict legal and ethical guidelines. Sony emphasizes that artificial intelligence serves as a creative enhancement rather than a developer replacement, similar to the PlayStation 5 Pro PSSR upscaling technology already implemented in their hardware. This approach aligns with broader industry perspectives, particularly those expressed by Super Smash Bros creator Masahiro Sakurai, who advocates for AI integration to improve development efficiency and address sustainability challenges facing modern game production.
