Sophie Devine ditches Kiwis after World Cup

New Zealand cricket captain Sophie Devine announced her retirement from one-day internationals after the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 in India and Sri Lanka. The 36-year-old all-rounder will end nearly two decades of international competition following the tournament. She expressed contentment with her career trajectory and enthusiasm for mentoring younger players while watching the sport continue to grow beyond her playing days.

Devine hopes to replicate the White Ferns' 2024 T20 World Cup success in the 50-over format as her final achievement. The team faces defending champions Australia in Indore on Day 2 of the competition. New Zealand last won an ODI World Cup in 2000, but Devine believes any team can claim victory in the current competitive landscape of women's cricket.
