SPL BiG Studio rack adds tube harmonics, now available

SPL expanded its BiG 500-series stereo widening technology into a full-size rackmount processor that incorporates tube-based harmonic generation circuitry. The BiG [Studio] Stereo Image Bigger Maker derives difference signals from stereo inputs and processes them through analog filter networks before blending results with original audio, maintaining mono compatibility without phase issues or signal cancellation.

The single-rack-space unit retains Range and Stage parameters from the compact version while adding controls for overall processing intensity and optional low-frequency enhancement derived from the manufacturer's IRON Mastering Compressor design. An exclusive Tube Harmonics section uses valve components to apply adjustable saturation coloration.

The device sells for 1,299 euros and has reached retailers.
