Over 300 experts from many African nations came to share ideas about growing better crops. Scientists from America, Britain, and other countries also joined the five-day meeting.
Dr. Yona Baguma leads Uganda's main research organization and runs the African Potato Association. He talked about new potato types that Uganda scientists created to fight vitamin problems. These special varieties grow better during droughts and other climate troubles. Sweetpotatoes became Uganda's third most valuable crop because of this research work. Baguma said African countries need steady money to keep developing better farming methods.
