SSC results crater, ministry fails nearly a third of students

Students across the country got their Secondary School Certificate exam results on Thursday afternoon. The Education Ministry released the scores at 2 pm sharp. Nearly two million teenagers had been waiting anxiously for months to find out if they passed. The results showed that 68.45 percent of students managed to clear the exams. Female students slightly outnumbered male students among the nearly 1.9 million who took the tests.

The pass rate took a massive hit compared to last year when 83.04 percent of students succeeded. Education officials confirmed that 11 different boards reported the lower numbers. The drop means thousands more students failed compared to 2024. Many families will be disappointed by the sharp decline in success rates. Teachers and parents had expected better results after students worked hard during exam season.

The grueling exam period lasted over a month from April 10 to May 13. Students sat through multiple papers testing their knowledge across different subjects. A total of 1,928,970 teenagers registered for the tests nationwide. The group included 967,739 girls and 961,231 boys from schools across Bangladesh. Many students will need to retake failed subjects while others celebrate their success and prepare for higher studies.
