St Petersburg property sales slump behind Moscow

New home sales around St Petersburg went down almost 25 percent from January through March 2025 compared to last year. According to housing construction data, only 14,600 apartments were sold during these first three months. Sales dropped 23 percent because special mortgage deals ended midway through 2024. These special loans have helped more people buy new homes.

Moscow seems to be doing better with home sales than St Petersburg right now. For every 100,000 residents, St Petersburg registers about 1.67 housing agreements daily, while Moscow records 2.24 agreements per 100,000 people each day. This makes Moscow sales rates 34 percent higher than those in St Petersburg. City Solutions analysts figured out these numbers after studying recent market trends. The housing market continues to adjust after government support programs finish.
