St. Petersburg tops list of favorite autumn destinations for Russians

Travel experts studied where Russians want to spend their autumn vacations. St. Petersburg came out on top as the most wanted destination during fall months. The northern city beat both Moscow and Adler for the number one spot. OneTwoTrip service collected data that RT news used for their report. Research showed exactly where people planned to go during late summer and early autumn.

Hotels in St. Petersburg received bookings from 17.6% of all travelers. Moscow came second with 13.4% of tourists choosing the capital city. Adler grabbed third place with 11.5% of vacation seekers picking that location. The study looked at many different cities across Russia. Travel companies tracked which places people wanted to visit most.

Other popular spots made the list with smaller numbers of visitors. Sochi attracted 5.7% of travelers during the same time period. Esto-Sadok brought in 4.3% of tourists for autumn trips. Kaliningrad earned 3.7% of bookings from Russian vacation planners. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and other cities also appeared on the travel list.

Foreign travel grew among Russians during the same research period. International trips jumped up 14% compared to last year numbers. Italy became the top choice for overseas vacations with 17% of hotel bookings. France took second place with 9.4% of travelers choosing that country. Spain rounded out the top three foreign destinations with 7.9% of Russian tourists.
