Starfield set for PlayStation 5 launch in spring 2026 alongside new expansion

Microsoft plans to bring Starfield to PlayStation 5 during spring 2026 rather than the previously rumored 2025 timeline. Sources informed MP1st that the delay stems partly from disappointing sales figures for the Shattered Space expansion. The company will bundle the PlayStation release with a second unannounced expansion and various gameplay improvements. Bethesda's space exploration title remains exclusive to Xbox Series consoles and PC platforms at present.

The Shattered Space expansion has struggled commercially despite receiving praise for its narrative elements and atmospheric design. Critics argue the add-on fails to differentiate itself sufficiently from the base game while commanding a premium price point. Microsoft appears unlikely to announce the PlayStation version at upcoming gaming events like Gamescom. The publisher also ruled out surprise releases similar to the recent Oblivion Remastered launch strategy. Industry observers expect formal confirmation closer to the projected release window.
