Stellantis revs up Kenitra Morocco plant with Citroen Opel, Fiat electric surge

Stellantis completed a major expansion at its Kenitra manufacturing facility in western Morocco this week. The automotive company will boost annual vehicle output from 200,000 units to 535,000 units at the plant. Electric microcar production from Citroen, Opel, and Fiat brands will rise from 20,000 vehicles to 70,000 vehicles each year. The facility will manufacture 65,000 electric three-wheelers annually as part of the expansion. Company officials announced the project during Wednesday's inauguration ceremony.

The automaker plans to introduce Smart Car platform vehicles next February. These new models will help the plant reach 400,000 units per year by doubling its original manufacturing capacity. The expansion creates more than 3,000 additional positions at the Moroccan facility. Current employment at the plant stands at 3,500 workers. Stellantis expects the facility to become a major production hub for electric vehicles across multiple brands.
