Sucker Punch keeps Ghost of Yotei's map size, cites quality

Sucker Punch Studios confirmed that Ghost of Yotei will match the duration of Ghost of Tsushima while maintaining similar map dimensions. The development team rejected expanding areas that would require meaningless filler content to populate larger spaces. Co-Director Jason Connell explained that the studio concentrated efforts on creating an illusion of greater scale appropriate for Hokkaido's real-world size compared to Tsushima Island. The Seattle-based developer enhanced environmental grandeur through vast plains and towering mountain ranges that convey the region's massive scope, absent from the previous title. Exploration mechanics received significant upgrades through interactive systems like flower trails that boost movement speed and telescopes for scenic appreciation, with Ghost of Yotei launching October 2 exclusively for PlayStation 5.
