Switch 2 Nvidia Chip Leak Leaves Fans Stunned

Someone posted the first picture of the chip inside Nintendo's Switch 2 online. The image shows NVIDIA's Tegra239 chip marked as "T239" on its surface. This confirms earlier rumors about what powers the new gaming system. The discovery matches Nintendo's known partnership with NVIDIA for custom Tegra chips in their consoles.

Previous reports suggest the chip comes with eight Arm Cortex-A78C cores. Its hybrid graphics unit mixes parts from NVIDIA's Ada Lovelace and Ampere designs with 1536 CUDA cores. The processor runs between 1.1 GHz and 1.5 GHz, depending on whether the console sits in its dock. It works with LPDDR5 memory through a 128-bit interface for faster data transfer.

The Tegra239 supports DLSS upscaling technology, which helps the Switch 2 achieve 4K resolution at 60 frames per second when docked. Full details about the chip remain scarce despite this new photo. NVIDIA keeps showing its skill at making custom chips through this Nintendo partnership. The gaming company maintains exclusive rights to use these special NVIDIA designs.

Many people wonder when NVIDIA might release chips for AI computers. Last year, rumors pointed to possible team-ups with MediaTek for new ARM chips called N1X or N1 series. No updates about these plans have appeared recently.
