Switch 2 Update Quietly Improves Older Game Support

Nintendo released a fresh system update for the Switch 2 that boosts overall performance and fixes some games that wouldn't work before. The company's official notes mention only general stability improvements to make users happier. Hidden changes help more original Switch games run properly on the new console.

A popular dataminer found that backward compatibility got better with this patch. Some titles that had problems before can play without issues after the update. Pikmin 3 Deluxe received its separate fix to stop screen flickering problems on Switch 2.

The demo version of Pikmin 3 Deluxe will get the same treatment later. Backward compatibility stands out as one of the Switch 2's best features. Even games without updates can use the stronger hardware to run more smoothly.

Nintendo appears ready to keep improving how older games work on the newer system. Testing shows that unpatched titles already benefit from better specs and steadier frame rates. More incompatible games should become playable as Nintendo continues working on updates.

The Switch 2 improves on its predecessor across all areas. The console offers major upgrades over the original Switch in every way possible.
