Modded Switch 2 turns ARK into silky smooth 60FPS at 1080p

A YouTube content creator has demonstrated how much better ARK runs on Nintendo Switch 2 compared to the original console. The user naga posted a video showing the survival game with graphics modifications that unlock frame rates and boost resolution. ARK performed terribly on the first Switch but runs much smoother on the newer system. The test reveals significant improvements across different resolution settings. These results show what gamers can expect from backward compatible titles on the upcoming console.

The modified version of ARK hits a steady 60 frames per second at standard 1080p resolution on Switch 2. Performance stays solid without the major stuttering problems that plagued the original system. At 1440p resolution the game maintains around 50 frames per second which provides smooth gameplay. The system struggles more at 4K resolution where frame rates drop to about 25 per second. Texture problems also appear at the highest setting due to memory limitations.

The graphics modifications work through importing save files that contain changed settings rather than actual system hacking. This method allows testing higher resolutions and unlocked frame rates on select games that support backward compatibility. The creator also tested Grid Autosport and Alien Isolation using similar techniques. These experiments push the new hardware to see its limits. Many games will automatically benefit from Switch 2 improvements without needing special updates.
