TAF 2025 closes with star-studded honors and Grain in the Wind

The TheatreMania Africa Festival wrapped up for 2025 with its big awards night at the Radisson Blu in Ikeja. This two-day event, starting at Shodex Gardens in Ilupeju, cements itself as a major continental theater thing. They threw a bunch of lifetime achievement awards, putting three huge names into their Hall of Fame. Those honorees were the legendary actress Dame Taiwo Ajai Lycett, represented by fellow veteran Akin Lewis, and the famous South African dance group Africa Umoja.

Corporate and leadership awards went to groups like First Bank's arts initiative and the MTN Foundation, plus individuals like politicians James Abiodun Faleke and Stephen Ogundipe. But the real talk of the evening was the main performance. A show called Grain in the Wind 4.0, starring actors like Sam Uche Anyamele, Titilola Aboyade Cole from the UK, Ochuko Odesa, Faloni Moyosore, and Paul Uwagbai, completely owned the stage. Its technical chops and heavy emotional vibe matched the festival's whole theme about African resilience and sticking together, leaving the crowd seriously impressed.
