Tagwirei Quietly Gunning for Zimbabwe's Top Job

Business leader Kudakwashe Tagwirei wants to become Zimbabwe's next president. He spoke at a church meeting and told people about his rise from poverty to wealth. The businessman started with just seven thousand dollars and built a huge company empire. He defended President Mnangagwa against corruption claims during his speech. Many people think Tagwirei plans to run for office when Mnangagwa steps down.

President Mnangagwa must leave office after 2028 because the constitution limits his time. Vice President Constantino Chiwenga also wants the top job and has military support behind him. Mnangagwa removed some army generals who might help Chiwenga take power. Tagwirei has money and business connections that could help him win the presidency. He also has friends among church leaders and media companies across the country.

Tagwirei gives money to football teams and hospitals to make people like him. He helps run government farming programs and mining companies that make him richer. Critics say he benefits from unfair government deals and corrupt practices. The businessman denies these claims and says he earned his success through hard work. His political future depends on whether the military and party leaders will support him.
