Saraban Tahura passed the mandatory fitness examination and will become Bangladesh's second female FIFA referee after Joya Chakma. Joya skipped the initial test on Sept. 6 and failed the second round to leave the female referee position available for Tahura. Salma Akter Moni also qualified and will work as an assistant FIFA referee for 2026.
The Bangladesh Football Federation will submit the selected officials' names to FIFA for verification and badge approval. Tahura meets age and eligibility requirements for the credential. The former kho kho captain started refereeing in 2021 and earned national referee status before working four matches at the SAFF Under-17 Women's Championship in Bhutan. She will attend the AFC Referee Academy course in Malaysia this month.
