Tamale Technical University students showcase green innovations

Tamale Technical University hosted its 17th hospitality exhibition on Saturday, during which more than 200 graduating students showcased sustainable products made from local materials. The Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management organized the fair under a theme emphasizing environmental responsibility in the industry. Students created items such as pastries from regional grains, herbal beverages, canned foods from repurposed ingredients, and tourism displays celebrating cultural heritage.

Department head Alhassan Fatawu said the event connects classroom learning with professional opportunities. He noted that graduates are prepared to start businesses and manage resources responsibly, rather than only seeking traditional employment. The university maintains partnerships with area hotels and the Ghana Tourism Authority to support student ventures.

Fatawu requested government assistance for laboratory equipment to strengthen practical instruction. He told education officials that better tools would help students meet market requirements. Department patron Alhassan Yahaya explained that students must complete hands-on projects using community resources as part of their degree requirements.

Student representative Philemon Mba Anamooh thanked the faculty for developing their abilities. The annual showcase demonstrates how technical programs can blend sustainability with business skills in Ghana's hospitality sector.
