Tanzania Launches First CAF Girls Football Tournament

Tanzania will host a major soccer event: the CAF U17 Girls Integrated Football Tournament, or GIFT. The games will be played from January 7 to 18, 2025, at the Azam Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

GIFT is a new idea from the Confederation of African Football (CAF). CAF wants to help women's soccer grow in Africa, and this event is a big step toward that goal.

Eight teams from East Africa will play in the tournament. Two teams from Tanzania, JKT Queens and TDS Girls Academy, will be there. Teams from Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, and Somalia will also play.

GIFT is more than just a tournament. It is a chance for young players to show their skills. It will also help build the future of women's soccer in Africa.

CAF cares about making soccer equal for everyone and wants to help the next generation of female soccer stars. GIFT is part of CAF's big plan. They want more girls to play soccer and people to spend money on women's soccer fields and equipment.

During the tournament, there will be a coaching class and a workshop for media professionals. These events will improve coaching and reporting.

Azam TV and CAF TV will show the games live on TV. People all over Africa can watch.

The tournament will also help the local community. There will be a soccer festival for girls, sports classes, and health events. CAF is working with UEFA to make these things happen.

GIFT will help women's soccer grow in Tanzania and beyond. It will be an event that people will remember for a long time.
