Tanzania opens centers to boost mineral value chain opportunities

The Tanzania Gemmological Center has established new facilities at the Arusha International Convention Center and Kilimanjaro International Airport. According to the center's head, Ally Maganga, these locations are intended to promote opportunities within the mineral value-added chain for both local and international visitors.

He explained that the initiative aims to educate the public and raise awareness about the center's activities. The project is also expected to generate employment and stimulate entrepreneurial ventures for skilled youth in gem and precious metal processing.

Additionally, the centers are designed to attract investment for establishing gem processing industries and to promote mineral tourism among travelers and conference attendees. A representative from the mineral brokers association praised the move for encouraging cooperation between the private sector and the government.
