Tarique Rahman Says No Compromise on Public Interest Issues Amid Election Talks

BNP leader Tarique Rahman fired back at critics during a virtual speech to party supporters. He told the crowd that his political group has already given ground on several reform topics. The acting chairman made these comments clear that some things cannot be negotiated away. Rahman stressed that anything hurting ordinary citizens remains off the table for deals. His party refuses to budge on matters that damage regular people.

The politician praised his political hero Ziaur Rahman during the Wednesday afternoon event. He reminded listeners that Bangladesh once banned all political parties except one under BAKSAL rule. Most newspapers faced shutdowns during that dark period of the country's history. Rahman credited the former president with bringing back multi-party democracy to the nation. He called this achievement one of their greatest sources of pride.

Rahman challenged his party workers to live up to their responsibilities as the biggest political force. He compared being the largest party to being the oldest child in a family. The leader explained that bigger parties face tougher challenges and must make more sacrifices. He urged supporters to stay connected with ordinary citizens across the country. Rahman wrapped up his speech by promising to meet party members on home soil very soon.

Several senior BNP figures joined the virtual conference at the district gymnasium. Vice-Chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo and other party officials also addressed the gathering. The triennial conference brought together party leaders from across Patuakhali district for the important political event.
