Tax board rebrands as JRB, new era for Nigeria’s revenue system

Nigeria's Joint Tax Board rebranded itself as the Joint Revenue Board and dropped a fresh logo at their meeting in Abuja, with Chairman Zacch Adedeji saying the switch represents a bigger push toward unified revenue collection across federal and state systems. The rebrand follows legislation that President Bola Tinubu signed earlier this year, and the new setup kicks in when tax administration laws take effect next month.

Executive Secretary Olusegun Adesokan said the board wants to build a single national taxpayer database using national ID numbers and company registration details through their Tax ID project. State revenue chiefs are already working to standardize tax rules across jurisdictions to cut down on conflicting requirements that mess with compliance.

The whole thing aims to get federal and state authorities sharing information better instead of operating in separate silos like they have been doing for years.
