The courts in Dhaka gave the ACC permission to grab tax records for former lawmaker Mirza Azam and his spouse Dewan Aleya because corruption probes need that financial paperwork. Judge Md Sabbir Faiz signed off on the whole thing after anti-corruption officials said they needed those files to do their jobs properly.
The same judge also let investigators seize documents for ex-DSCC mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and his wife Afrin Taposh. The commission claims Taposh pulled in around 73 crore taka through shady means, and his bank accounts moved over 539 crore in sketchy transactions. His wife apparently worked with him to stack up another 6 crore illegally, and her accounts showed around 71 crore worth of suspicious money movements.
