Teens cuffed after crotch stunt with Kenya flag at Nyayo

Authorities detained a 14-year-old suspect Thursday for desecrating Kenya's national flag during a football match at Nyayo Stadium. Police had previously arrested a 17-year-old accomplice connected to the same incident. Both teenagers underwent processing and await further legal proceedings. The flag desecration occurred on September 20 during a CAF Champions League game between Mogadishu City Club and Police FC.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen demanded swift prosecutions under the National Flag Act, which criminalizes disrespect toward national symbols. Inspector General Douglas Kanja directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to pursue all individuals involved in the incident. Somalia's Ambassador to Kenya condemned the actions after video footage circulated online showing fans stomping and kicking the flag. Detectives continue pursuing additional suspects connected to the widely condemned act.
