Tehran scoffs as snapback sanctions hit, vows defiance

Iran's Foreign Ministry rejected the United Nations sanctions reimposition on Sunday, calling the measures illegal, and unjustified. The ministry declared the restrictions create no obligations for UN member states, setting up a direct confrontation with Western powers. Iranian officials blamed France, Germany, Britain, and the United States for misusing the 2015 nuclear agreement's dispute mechanisms through bad faith actions.

The ministry accused European nations of supporting military strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities during June fighting. Tehran argued the Security Council process violated proper procedures by ignoring objections from Iran, China, and Russia. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described recent U.S. demands as unacceptable, while Iran deepened partnerships with Russia, and recalled ambassadors from the three European countries for consultations.
