Ten Killed in Free State Bus and Truck Crash

Ten people died when a bus crashed into a truck yesterday morning in Free State, South Africa. The accident happened around 4:20 am on the N6 road. A small two-year-old girl lost her life along with six women and three men right at the crash site. Both drivers survived despite the severe collision.

Medical teams rushed five badly hurt passengers to hospitals in Bloemfontein. Another 22 people with injuries received care at a Smithfield hospital. Early reports show the bus traveled from Reddersburg toward Smithfield as the truck moved the opposite way. They hit each other in what officials called a "sideswipe head-on impact."

Police started looking into why the crash happened. They opened a case of culpable homicide as part of their investigation. Law enforcement asked drivers passing through the area to be extra careful because emergency workers still occupied the scene, clearing debris and helping victims.

The bus carried 35 passengers before the deadly crash occurred. Officials continue gathering evidence about the circumstances that led to this tragic accident. Local authorities expect to release more details as their investigation moves forward during the coming days.
