Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra Suspended Amid Diplomatic Spat with Cambodia

Thailand's top court kicked Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra out of office on Tuesday. Seven judges voted to suspend her after angry senators accused her of bad behavior during a fight with Cambodia. She cannot do her job until the court makes a final decision about her future. Conservative politicians filed the case against her last month. They claim she broke rules about how government ministers should act.

The trouble started when Thai and Cambodian forces fought at their shared border back in May. One Cambodian soldier died during the violent clash between the two armies. Countries have argued about who controls that land for many years. The fighting made tensions much worse between the neighboring nations. Leaders from both sides tried to calm things down after the deadly incident.

Paetongtarn made a private phone call to former Cambodian leader Hun Sen to discuss the border problems. She called him uncle during their conversation and said a Thai military commander was her opponent. Someone recorded the call without her knowing and shared it with news reporters. The leaked audio made many Thai people very angry with their prime minister.

Conservative lawmakers say she was too friendly with Cambodia and disrespected her military leaders. They believe she violated constitutional rules that require ministers to show clear honesty and follow ethical standards. The court will decide if she can return to power or must leave office permanently. Political experts say the case could change how Thailand deals with foreign countries.
