The Akoto family demands respect for ruling on the Tanyigbe stool rotation

The Akoto Royal Family demands that Tanyigbe residents honor the Volta Regional House of Chiefs' decision regarding paramount chieftaincy succession. Regional authorities ruled the throne on a rotational basis and granted leadership rights to the Akoto clan after Togbe Kwasi Adiko V passed away. Murphy Akoto condemned the Adiko family for disregarding judicial authority through the continued promotion of Roland Adiko as chief. The March 2025 ruling declared Adiko's installation invalid and confirmed Togbe Etoi Kodzo II as the legitimate paramount chief. Officials determined the succession system alternates between different clans according to historical tradition.

The Adiko family organized ceremonies celebrating Roland Adiko in April despite court orders prohibiting such actions. These events violated the judicial committee's decision and created ongoing tension within the community. The Akoto family requested intervention from the Ho Municipal Assembly and regional security officials to maintain order. Development projects have stopped while this dispute continues, affecting roads, schools, and water systems. The family emphasized that legal compliance remains essential for community progress and stability.
