The Cumilla court locks up the Muradnagar mob in brutal Roksana family murders

A Cumilla court sent eight people to jail for three days each on Wednesday. These suspects face charges for killing three family members at Karoi Bari area last month. Senior Judicial Magistrate Muminul Haque made this decision when police brought the accused to court around 11:30 in the morning. Court Inspector Sadekur Rahman told reporters about the hearing. Heavy security surrounded the courthouse during the proceedings.

Detective Branch officers wanted to keep the suspects for seven days instead. The police unit took over this murder investigation recently. Officer-in-Charge Md Abdullah from Cumilla DB explained their request to the judge. The court gave them less time than they asked for. Detective Branch started handling the case after local police handed it over.

The brutal killings happened on July 8 at a family home. Angry villagers attacked Roksana Begum Ruby and her two children. The mob killed her daughter Jonaki Akter and son Russel Mia during the same attack. Local people accused the family of selling drugs before the violence started. The victims died from beating and hacking wounds.

Rikta Akter lost her mother and siblings that night. She filed a murder case at Bangra Police Station naming 38 specific people. Her complaint also mentioned 25 other unknown attackers. One main suspect named Bachchu Miah confessed his crimes to the court. Previous hearings sent six other accused people to prison after judges rejected their bail requests.
