'The Exception and the Rule' staged in Dhaka, echoes the demands of the July Uprising

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy presented Bertolt Brecht's educational drama at its Experimental Hall yesterday evening. The German playwright's work received its second local performance before a capacity audience. Director Azad Abul Kalam adapted the production to reflect themes from recent political movements. Shahidul Mamun provided the Bengali translation for this presentation.

Audience members expressed enthusiasm for theatrical works addressing contemporary social issues. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs supported this staging as part of new production initiatives. Brecht's examination of power structures and social justice resonated with viewers following recent national events. The performance began at seven o'clock with extensive technical support from the lighting and music teams.

Multiple performers contributed to various production roles under Kalam's direction. The staging demonstrated how classical European theater connects with current Bangladeshi political discourse. Academy officials positioned this work within broader efforts to expand theatrical programming that examines societal change and democratic principles.
