Threadripper 9980X tops PassMark charts over Pro 7995WX

AMD shocked computer fans with their latest processor breakthrough. The Threadripper 9980X crushed performance records despite having fewer cores than older chips. This powerful processor grabbed the top spot on PassMark testing charts with an amazing 147,481 points. The chip beat AMD's previous flagship model that packed 32 extra cores.

Computer experts expected the older 7995WX model to win because it had more processing cores. The new 9980X proved them wrong by delivering superior performance with smarter design. AMD built this processor using their advanced Zen 5 technology that works faster than previous versions. The company focused on efficiency rather than just adding more cores to boost speed.

PassMark testing showed the 9980X scored 8 percent higher than its direct predecessor model. The older 7980X managed 136,517 points compared to the new champion's massive score. Single-core performance improved even more dramatically with a 13.7 percent jump over the previous generation. The new chip hit 4,594 points on single-core tests.

Desktop processors from Intel and other AMD models still beat the 9980X at single-core tasks. Intel's Core Ultra 9 285K reached 5,096 points on the same test. AMD's gaming-focused 9950X3D also scored above 4,700 points for single-core performance.

The Threadripper 9980X targets professionals and enthusiasts who need massive computing power. AMD designed this processor for people who want the best performance without needing enterprise-level features. Test scores may vary between different systems and testing conditions.
