Thyolo Drug Raid Catches Rogue Clinic Owner

Thyolo police caught a man running an illegal medical clinic and seized millions of Kwachas worth of drugs. Officers arrested 30-year-old Medison John on June 17, 2025, after someone tipped them off about his unlicensed operation at Makwasa. Police spokesperson Rebecca Kashoti said John was storing and giving out medicines without proper permits. The raid turned up huge amounts of pharmaceutical products that required special licenses. Police found everything from vitamin syrups to HIV drugs stored at the site.

Officers discovered 21 vitamin syrup bottles, 18 nasal drop containers, and 29 injection bottles during their search. They also found 11 bottles of HIV treatment drugs, birth control pills, needles, antibiotics, and other medications. Police are still trying to figure out where John got all these medicines. He faces charges under two sections of the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority Act. These laws control who can have and distribute medical products.

John will appear in court soon to answer for his actions. Police warn people to only visit licensed doctors and clinics for medical care. This protects patients and makes sure everyone follows health rules. The investigation continues as authorities work to trace the source of the confiscated medicines. Officials want to prevent similar illegal operations from putting public health at risk.
