Tinubu Back Home After Paris Trip

Nigeria's President Tinubu heads home today after spending time in France since April 2. The government says he used this trip to check on reforms for his upcoming two-year mark in office.

Many critics have spoken out about his absence during recent violence in Nigeria. Over 150 people died in attacks across Benue, Plateau, and other states when he was away. Former opponent Atiku Abubakar criticized Tinubu for being abroad during these troubles. Peter Obi, another political rival, asked the President to end his foreign stay immediately.

The President's team defends his actions, saying he kept in touch with officials the entire time and directed security forces to handle the threats throughout the country. His spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed on social media that Tinubu would return today.

Both opposition leaders questioned why Tinubu remained outside Nigeria during such dangerous times. They called for him to take charge of the situation personally instead of managing from abroad. The security issues caused major concern among citizens worried about leadership during a crisis.
