Tinubu showers Ogoni with projects, Wike dishes all the receipts

A politician shows up at Christmas to list favors from the boss. The Minister for the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, visited the Khana Local Government Area in Rivers State, telling crowds that President Bola Tinubu holds a special fondness for the Ogoni people. Wike claimed this affection is now visible through several development projects and political gestures. He pointed to the new Federal University of Environment and Technology located in Koroma, Tai LGA, as a direct response to long-standing Ogoni requests for a university. Wike also mentioned a road project connecting the region to Bonny Island, and cited Tinubu's pardon of four Ogoni individuals known as martyrs as a key act of reconciliation.

During his holiday visit, the minister framed his appearance as a thank you for local support over many years. He stated the current administration has taken what he called deliberate and intentional steps to benefit Ogoniland beyond just infrastructure. Wike told the gathering that Ogoni community members have already received multiple federal appointments under Tinubu's government. He promised the crowd that more such political positions would be coming their way as a further demonstration of presidential goodwill.
