Tire Change Costs Jump 15% in St Petersburg

Tire fitting services cost 15 percent more in St. Petersburg compared to last year. This April, people paid an average of 3,104 rubles for tire changes. More customers needed this service, and purchases went up by 7 percent overall. The warm, dry weather made many drivers replace their winter tires with summer ones earlier than usual. Many shops started seeing customers at the end of March.

Almost half of all drivers changed their tires by mid-April. R16 tire fitting makes up 24 percent of all work done at these shops. Thanks to good weather conditions, workers replace around 500 tires each day. The nice weather helps tire shops serve more customers during this busy season. Market experts say both tires themselves cost more this year.

Premium summer tires increased in price by 3.6 percent during the past year, and winter tires became even more expensive, with an 8.9 percent price jump. These higher costs for materials affected the final price customers pay. People also want better service when they visit tire shops. Both factors pushed prices higher across all tire fitting businesses.
