Tiwa Savage says pregnancy trimmed her vocal range on the R.E.D album

Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage recently opened up about her pregnancy journey during her recording career. She shared these personal details during her appearance on Afrobeats Intelligence podcast. Her pregnancy created unexpected challenges for her music production process. The singer discovered that carrying a baby changed how her voice worked. Her vocal range became limited compared to her normal singing abilities.

Savage was expecting a child when she worked on her album called R.E.D. Recording sessions became emotionally difficult for the pregnant artist. She often found herself crying during studio time with her growing belly. The physical changes from pregnancy forced her to make creative adjustments. She had to change the musical keys for several songs because hitting certain notes became impossible.

The singer made history at Mavin Records as their first artist to become pregnant. Her colleagues noticed when her energy levels dropped during work sessions. Producer Jazzy would help her feel better when she needed specific foods. Her pregnancy cravings focused mainly on eggs and bread combinations. The team at Mavin supported her through this challenging recording period.

Tiwa Savage started working with Don Jazzy at Mavin Records back in 2012. She remained with the label for seven years before making a career change. Universal Music Group became her new home when she left Mavin in 2019. Her pregnancy experience taught her how motherhood affects female artists. The R.E.D album represents both her artistic growth and personal transformation during that special time.
