Tourism sector preps for festive boom, power back-up a must

Zimbabwe's hotel people are telling everyone in the business to get their backup power sorted because tourists are about to flood the country for the holidays. Emmah Kativu, who runs the Hospitality Association and works at Coghlan Hospitality Group, said bookings look solid, and most visitors will be Zimbabweans, either living locally or flying back from overseas. She mentioned that resorts and out-of-town spots need festive menus and entertainment ready, while making sure water, internet, and safety measures are locked down.

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority kicked off a campaign at Lake Harvest Sports Club in Kariba to push domestic travel, and Forbes just called the country the best place to visit next year. Sithabile Bhebhe from the Bulawayo Chamber of SMEs said small tourism businesses need to link up with transport companies, food suppliers, and utility providers because the whole sector depends on different industries working together.
