Trader Caught Spending Nearly 800k Cedis by Mistake

A court judge sent trader Constance Gyasi Nimako to jail after she took money that went to her bank account on accident. Someone wanted to move 800,000 cedis from their company account to their personal account but typed the wrong number. The money landed in Nimako's Ecobank account instead of where it should have gone. Nimako spent almost all the cash before anyone could stop her. She moved 300,000 cedis to her mother's bank account and put 400,000 cedis into another account she had.

The woman also took out 70,500 cedis in cash from the machine. Her mother Cecilia Gyasi helped move the money around different banks. Both women said they did nothing wrong when they went to court. Judge Susan Eduful decided Nimako must stay locked up because the crime was serious and she might run away. The mother can go free if she pays 500,000 cedis and finds two family members who make at least 2,000 cedis each month.

The mistake happened when a business owner wanted to move company money on February 4th. Workers at the bank typed Nimako's account number instead of the right one. The cash went to her account two days later. The business owner called his bank when the money did not show up where he expected it. Both banks tried to get the money back but Nimako had already moved it around. Police arrested her in Kumasi after she refused to talk and hid from them.
