Transafam Power launches senior care, and elders get a health boost

Transafam Power dropped their first-ever senior citizen wellness program in the Okoloma-Afam community over in Rivers State, and they hooked up more than 30 elderly folks with medical checkups plus care packages. The power company CEO, Vincent Ozoude, said the event will happen every year since they generate almost 20 percent of the country's electricity through their operations. Each person walked away with a blood pressure monitor, vitamins for three months, and boxes filled with food and household supplies.

Doctors from Avon Medical Practice ran health talks about managing hypertension and diabetes prevention before checking vital signs and handing out medications on the spot. Community leaders said the initiative showed real compassion for the 24 women and six men who participated. Transafam announced the wellness day joins their existing programs covering waste management, medical consultations, and youth employment opportunities in host communities.
